Metsä Group Invests EUR 60 Million to Modernize Folding Carton Factory in Simpele

Metsä Group has announced that they will invest EUR 60 million in the renovation of their folding carton machine located in Simpele. This investment is part of a previously announced program and will be spread over the years 2024-2026. The renovation aims to improve the quality of the folding board and increase production efficiency, as well as enable the replacement of fossil fuels in cardboard production.

As a result of this renovation, the production capacity of the factory will increase by approximately 10,000 tons, bringing the annual production capacity of Simpele folding carton to approximately 310,000 tons. This decision is part of a larger investment program aimed at modernizing the Simpele cardboard factory, which will be implemented in stages over the next ten years.

Overall, this investment will enhance both quality and efficiency in production while also contributing to sustainability goals by enabling a reduction of fossil fuels in the manufacturing process. Metsä Group is committed to continuous improvement and innovation in their manufacturing processes to meet customer demands and environmental standards.
