AI boosts innovation in design

Fuorisalone 2021: Redesign and Innovation in Furniture Trends, AI-Driven Technology, and Sustainable Design

Fuorisalone, a significant event held during Milan Design Week, features numerous exhibitions and events showcasing new design trends. One such trend is the redesign of classic furniture pieces, as demonstrated by TON’s reinvention of its iconic chair 14. The minimalist approach of Swedish design studio Claesson Koivisto Rune has also been applied to the redesign of chairs, resulting in a more contemporary style with fewer parts and screws.

Another innovative trend in furniture design is the use of AI technology to create unique products. Kartell Marketing and Retail Director, Lorenza Luti, stated that their goal was to be pioneers in using new technology to create sustainable products while maintaining aesthetics. The company’s chairs and armchairs are all created using AI technology in response to the designer’s input and the company’s expertise, accelerating the prototyping and design process without compromising on creativity.

During Fuorisalone, visitors can explore various exhibitions that offer inspiration and innovation, including an installation by artist and designer Maxim Velčovský at Palazzo Isimbardi that showcases the grace of molten glass. Meanwhile, the Palazzo Confalonieri – Fondazione Cariplo will host a showcase of contemporary Austrian design under the patronage of ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA. Surrounded by a picturesque garden in the Brera Design District, Design Palazzo Austria will feature a curated selection of furniture, lamps, and home accessories that offer visitors a blend of historical design and modern creativity. The exhibition design by Vasku & Klug aims to create an interactive experience between exhibited objects, interior space, and garden.
