Empowering Women Across Borders: Jacksonville Hosts Armenian Delegation during Women’s History Month
In March, Jacksonville hosted a group of women Asian leaders during National Women’s History Month. The Beaches Rotary Clubs welcomed the Armenian Delegation, which included Karine Davtyan and Anahit Badalyan. Both women shared their reasons for joining the delegation and expressed their desire to learn from the American experience to bring new ideas back to their region.
Badalyan founded the Berd Women’s Resource Center Foundation with the goal of addressing women’s economic, healthcare, and mental health issues. Her organization aims to empower women and provide resources to support them in achieving their full potential. She found it inspiring to meet with mayors in Jacksonville and emphasized the power of women coming together.
Davtyan, on the other hand, focuses on empowering women and addressing gender-based violence, domestic or sexual violence, and women’s leadership and political participation. She explained that her organization works closely with local communities to provide support and resources to those affected by these issues.
The delegation had a packed agenda during their time in Jacksonville, attending events like The Players Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach as well as meetings with elected officials such as Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan, St. Augustine Mayor Nancy Sikes-Kline, Jacksonville Beach Mayor Christine Hoffman, and Neptune Beach Mayor Elaine Brown. These meetings provided an opportunity for the delegation to learn from American women leaders and exchange ideas that could benefit their communities back home.
Overall, the meeting between the Armenian Delegation and Jacksonville’s women leaders was a meaningful exchange of ideas and experiences that further empowered these leaders to collaborate on important issues affecting women worldwide.
