Diagnostic Network Optimization at the 77th World Health Assembly: Addressing Fragmented Supply Chains and Market Barriers for Improved Health Outcomes

In the past year, a landmark resolution was passed to strengthen diagnostics, and now, experts will gather at the 77th World Health Assembly in Geneva to tackle the most pressing health challenges facing our global community. One of the main obstacles to accessing diagnostics is fragmented supply chains and market barriers, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

To address these challenges, diagnostic network optimization (DNO) is a process that evaluates gaps, capacity limitations, and inefficiencies in healthcare networks and delivery every two to three years. Despite collecting valuable information during these evaluations, much of it remains underutilized or isolated, hindering progress in improving healthcare outcomes.

On May 30th, a collaborative event between Foreign Policy and Cepheid will focus on unlocking DNO insights to enhance pathogen detection, strengthen global health systems, achieve universal health coverage, and combat antimicrobial resistance. Participants will explore strategies to maximize the impact of diagnostic network optimization and improve access to vital diagnostic tools.

The event will take place on May 30th, 2024, from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM CET. Join us as we advance the conversation on diagnostics and contribute to the global effort to improve healthcare access and outcomes.
