Zhongshou selects Arvedi Esp as partner for sustainable steel production

Zhongshou Special Steel Group Invests in Green Steel Production with New Arvedi ESP Line

Zhongshou Special Steel Group, a Chinese steel producer, has placed an order for an Arvedi Esp line from Primetals Technologies for its facility in Luanzhou, Hebei province. The plant is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2025.

Arvedi Esp technology, which is officially certified for casting and rolling thin sheets with zero carbon emissions, is recognized for its energy efficiency in producing high-quality hot rolled endless strip (eHRC). This efficiency was a key factor in why Zhongshou chose Arvedi Esp for its shift from traditional methods to a greener production line using an electric arc furnace (EAF) and Arvedi ESP.

Zhongshou’s President Zheng Ting Wen expressed the company’s commitment to leading in green steel production both domestically and internationally while remaining competitive in markets aligned with Carbon Border Adjustment rules. By investing in the twelfth ESP plant globally, Zhongshou is taking a significant step towards decarbonizing its production process, aiming for zero CO2 emissions during casting and rolling stages.

The design of the Zhongshou ESP plant incorporates cutting-edge technology such as LevCon automation solutions to facilitate high levels of productivity and exceptional product quality across the entire thickness range. The plant will be among China’s nine similar facilities but stands out as the most powerful to date with features like long casting machines, high reduction rolling benches, and finishing rolling benches that enable it to manufacture various steel products efficiently.
