Grocer to Carry Sauce Created by Virginia Tech Graduate

Spring Wine Tasting: Blossoming Business Opportunities and Entrepreneurship in Hampton Roads

As spring approaches, winemakers in the Hampton Roads region are reopening their tasting rooms to welcome visitors. AmRhein’s Wine Cellars in Bent Mountain has announced that its tasting room will open on April 6th, while Villa Appalaccia Winery in Patrick County recently opened its tasting room on March 15th and exceeded expectations. Co-owner Julie Block mentioned that they set records and noted that people are eager to get back out and enjoy wine tasting experiences once again.

However, Stanburn Winery in Stuart revealed on social media that they will be closing after the upcoming season. Despite this news, both the food and wine industries seem to be thriving in the region, with new products like Aunt Carol’s Sauce hitting store shelves. Tahjere Lewis, a Virginia Tech graduate who turned a family recipe into a commercially available product, is only 24 years old and resides in Hampton Roads. Food Lion is one of the largest retailers to agree to carry Lewis’s product, marking a significant milestone for his entrepreneurship journey.

These developments indicate a positive outlook for local entrepreneurs and businesses in Hampton Roads and beyond. The food industry has seen tremendous growth over the past few years, with new restaurants opening up across the region. In addition, there has been an increase in demand for locally sourced products such as fresh produce and artisanal cheeses. This trend is expected to continue as consumers become more conscious of their health and dietary needs.

Overall, it seems that Hampton Roads is becoming a hub for culinary innovation and entrepreneurship. With so many new products like Aunt Carol’s Sauce hitting store shelves and wineries welcoming guests back for tastings and tours, it’s clear that there is no shortage of opportunities for local businesses to succeed.
