Rakuten Mobile Teams Up with South Korean Operator Stage X for Technology Collaboration

Rakuten Mobile, Rakuten Symphony, and STAGE X Form Alliance to Revolutionize Telecom Industry through Knowledge Exchange and Collaboration

Rakuten Mobile, Rakuten Symphony, and South Korean mobile network operator STAGE X have agreed to collaborate on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that aims to establish a comprehensive framework for technology and business exchange. The MoU will bring together the newest mobile network operators in Japan and Korea to share industry knowledge and expertise from Rakuten Mobile, as well as providing telecom solutions from Rakuten Symphony.

Discussions will cover various aspects of Stage X’s upcoming projects, including business operations and technical areas. The companies will also explore cooperation for expansion to mid-band frequency and the development of a 6G-based national network from a long-term perspective.

Stage X CEO Sangwon Seo expressed his desire for broad cooperation among the three companies. He noted that Stage X is preparing to provide 5G services in the 28 GHz spectrum as a new greenfield mobile network operator, and he looks forward to collaborating with Rakuten and learning from their experience in deploying the world’s first fully virtualized, cloud-native mobile network in Japan.

The CEO of Rakuten Mobile and President of Rakuten Symphony are excited about collaborating with South Korea’s newest mobile network operator. They believe there are significant synergies to be leveraged, and this MoU will create opportunities for industry-changing advancements for Stage X.
