Major donor cuts ties with Brown University over discussion of Israel boycott

Billionaire Entrepreneur Stands Up Against Brown University’s Israel Boycott: The Impact of Ignoring Facts on Education

The decision to withdraw financial support from Brown University has been made by Barry Sternlicht, a real estate entrepreneur and one of its top donors. This move comes at a time when The University of Rhode Island is considering an academic boycott of Israel.

Sternlicht expressed disappointment in the university’s stance on the issue, stating that he believes that when people ignore facts, there should be no discussion. He views the decision as propaganda rather than education.

At Brown University, students had dismantled their encampment and agreed to refrain from violating university codes for the remainder of the academic year. President Christina Paxson stated that this decision was made as part of the agreement reached with the students. However, it is not yet clear if this agreement will be enough to prevent further protests or boycotts on campus.
