Indian male and female relay teams qualify for Paris 2024 Olympics in 4x400m event

Indian 4x400m Relay Team Secures Olympic Qualification in Mixed Relay at Thomas A Robinson Stadium

The Indian men’s 4x400m relay team consisting of Arokia Rajiv, Amoj Jacob, Muhammad Anas Yahiya, and Muhammad Ajmal seized their second opportunity and clocked a season’s best time of 3:03.23 in heat 2 to secure their spot behind the USA in the upcoming event. On Saturday, Rajesh Ramesh was unable to compete in the relay race due to injury, resulting in a DNF for the Indian team.

In the women’s 4x400m relay race at the Thomas A Robinson Stadium, the team of Subha Venkatesan, MR Poovamma, Jyothika Sri Dandi, and Rupal clocked 3:29.35 to finish behind Jamaica in their heat and earned India a quota spot. In Sunday’s mixed relay qualifying round, Indian runners have the chance to qualify a team for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Two quota spots will be granted based on the top list during the qualification period from December 31, 2022, to June 30, 2024.
