Global Citizen NOW Summit: Fighting Extreme Poverty with a Star-Studded Lineup

The Global Citizen NOW summit is set to take place on May 1st and 2nd in New York City. This event will bring together a diverse group of influential decision-makers, including celebrities like Michelle Yeoh, Hugh Jackman, Danai Gurira, and Dakota Johnson, as well as political leaders, business executives, and philanthropists.

The goal of the summit is to create a global agenda for urgent action on issues related to extreme poverty. Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans emphasized the importance of addressing these issues head-on. The event will feature actors like Hugh Jackman, Danai Gurira, Dakota Johnson, and leaders from companies like Cisco, Citi, Delta, and PayPal.

One of the key priorities for the summit will be defeating preventable diseases like malaria, polio, and HPV. In addition to this effort, new initiatives will be introduced to protect the Amazon Rainforest and increase investments in Africa through the World Bank. The summit in New York will also build on the success of a recent conference in Australia among Gen Z and millennial leaders.

Global Citizen hopes to inspire the next generation of advocates through its Global Citizen Prize awards. These awards will highlight and support five young individuals making a significant impact on the world.
