Timberline School Eighth-Graders Compete in National Science Bowl, Emphasize Hard Work and Teamwork

A group of Timberline School eighth-grade students recently competed in the National Science Bowl in the Washington, D.C. area after qualifying for the competition by winning at the regional level earlier in the school year. The team consisted of Krish Joshi, Neil Nallabirudu, Ishani Atluri, Adwaiyth Muthuranam, and Evan Midtlyng.

The students dedicated months to preparing for the tournament, studying long hours each day using different methods such as watching videos and reading textbooks. Ishani Atluri emphasized the importance of hard work and commitment in achieving success, highlighting that their efforts directly led to positive results.

The team ended up with four wins and four losses, defeating teams from Alaska, New York, Tennessee, and West Virginia while respectfully losing to teams from North Carolina and the previous year’s Championship team from Bellevue, Washington. Coach Julie Stevens commended the students for their self-motivation, teamwork, and eagerness to improve their knowledge and skills.

Apart from the competition, the students had a great time exploring Washington D.C., taking part in various activities and meeting new people. They also got a chance to visit historic sites such as Ford’s Theater
