Apartment building destroyed in major arson fire

Techentin Apartment Fire Leaves 13 Residents Homeless, Investigation Ongoing for Cause

An apartment building in Techentin, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was ravaged by a fire that left 13 residents homeless. The blaze broke out late on Wednesday evening and caused the roof of a house on “Am Umspannwerk” street to catch fire around 9:30 p.m. Authorities suspect arson as the cause of the fire, and investigations are ongoing.

However, thanks to the efforts of rescue workers, all 13 tenants were able to evacuate safely. Seventy-five firefighters from neighboring volunteer fire departments arrived at the scene with 15 vehicles to combat the major fire. By the time they arrived, however, the roof structure was already fully engulfed in flames.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with criminal police looking into the suspicion of particularly serious arson. The police estimate the material damage caused at 800,000 euros. This incident marks yet another case of arson in Techentin and neighboring Ludwigslust, which have experienced several fires in recent years leading authorities to suspect arson as a possible cause.

In response to this escalating number of fires in the area, authorities are taking steps to enhance security and investigate each incident thoroughly. Residents and officials are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to prevent further incidents of arson.
