Revolutionizing Education: AI Takes the Center Stage at CSUN’s Digital Equity Day

The California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is hosting its third annual Digital Equity Day with a focus on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This year’s event will feature distinguished speakers Stephen Than and Deone Zell, who will discuss the transformative potential of AI in education. Their insights will explore the revolutionary possibilities that AI presents for reshaping teaching methodologies, breaking down barriers to learning, and ensuring equal opportunities for all students.

In addition to the keynote speeches, CSUN is also showcasing student-led projects using AI to address campus challenges through its AI Jam 2024 competition. The competition will feature a showcase and awards ceremony where students will introduce their problem and project via AI technology.

The 3rd place winners, Alberto Rubalcava and Alberto Sandoval, designed “Course Compass” to help students navigate their academic journey with clear guidance. The 2nd place winners, Conner Nehru Juman and Cameel Emily Juman, developed “MatBot by Chatty Matty” to solve scheduling and advising issues. Finally, the 1st place winners, Luis Olmos, Victoria Miteva, and Vaishnavi Sen created the “AI Academic Course Planning Program.”

These student-led teams have worked tirelessly to refine their AI-powered solutions to address real-world challenges on the CSUN campus, embodying the university’s commitment to innovation.
