Art and science unite at the 5th annual Kinetic Derby Day in West Columbia

Join the Fun: West Columbia’s 5th Annual Kinetic Derby Day Featuring iMAGINE

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) – The 5th Annual Kinetic Derby Day featuring iMAGINE is taking place on April 20, 2024. This exciting event will run from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. along State and Meeting Streets in West Columbia.

The day will kick off with the Kinetic Sculpture Parade at 10:30 AM on Meeting Street. Participants will be dressed in cartoon character costumes and will showcase their human-powered vehicles as they parade down the street, promising to be a fun and entertaining event for all ages.

Following the parade, attendees can make their way to the iMAGINE STEAM Festival on State Street. With over 30 interactive booths, the festival will highlight Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) subjects in a fun and engaging way. There will be activities suitable for all ages, making it a great opportunity for families to learn and have fun together.

For the kids, there will be a dedicated Kids’ Zone with bounce houses and obstacle courses, ensuring that there is something for everyone to enjoy. In addition, there will be the Meeting Street Artisan Market, a giant slide, a food truck rally, and chalk artists adding to the vibrant and lively atmosphere of the event.

Thrilling competitions in the form of Soapbox and Obstacle Racing on Meeting Street will take place at 11 AM and 1:30 PM respectively
