Weather halts play but not Brooke Henderson’s climb up the Chevron leaderboard

A Flawless Performance by Brooke Henderson Sends Her to the Top of the Chevron Championship Leaderboard, Just One Shot Behind with Play Held Up by Weather

On Saturday afternoon, Brooke Henderson made a remarkable climb up the Chevron Championship leaderboard with a stunning performance. She carded seven birdies and an eagle on her first 14 holes before a weather delay halted play as she stood on her final hole. At that moment, she was 8 under on her round and 10 under overall, just one shot behind Atthaya Thitikul, who held the lead.

Thitikul, a 21-year-old player, has had success in major tournaments in the past, including a T-4 finish at last year’s Chevron Championship. As play resumed on Sunday morning, Thitikul had six holes left to play in the third round before the final round was set to begin at approximately 10:20 a.m. ET. World No. 1 Nelly Korda, who is aiming to win a fifth consecutive tournament, was also tied with Henderson at 10 under with seven holes remaining.

Henderson began her impressive round with a birdie on the par-3 seventh hole and followed it up with an eagle on the par-5 eighth hole. She continued to play superbly and birdied holes 9 through 11 before bogeying the par-4 16th hole. Her best round in a major tournament is still a personal record of 64, which she achieved in the first two rounds of the Evian Championship last year where she won it all.
