Jacksonville Pioneers Autonomous Vehicle Adoption: How the Latest Technology is Revolutionizing Transportation in Florida

Jacksonville is leading the way in autonomous vehicles adoption with the introduction of a driverless vehicle at Florida State College. The city has been at the forefront of adopting this technology, and it is set to revolutionize the way people are transported. Joe Moye, who comes from a Navy family that served at Mayport and decided to stay in Jacksonville, now runs Beep, a company responsible for the autonomous vehicles used by the Jacksonville Transportation Authority.

Beep specializes in deploying purpose-built, autonomous multi-passenger electric shuttles with the aim of providing new options beyond personal vehicles. According to Moye, Beep’s vision is to improve transportation in busy areas like downtown, medical campuses, academic campuses, business campuses, and airports. By utilizing this technology and new vehicle platforms, Moye believes that Beep can provide a more efficient and accessible means of transportation for those who may not have other options available.
