Global Giant Gallagher Acquires Melbourne-Based Health Insurance Consultancy HICA to Expand Its Australian Presence

Health Insurance Consultants Australia (HICA), a specialized health insurance consultancy and brokerage firm based in Melbourne, Victoria, has recently been acquired by Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., a brokerage based in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Gallagher’s chairman and CEO, J. Patrick Gallagher Jr., expressed enthusiasm for the acquisition, citing HICA’s strong growth record and its potential to enhance Gallagher’s benefits consulting capabilities in Australia. As a global insurance brokerage, risk management, and consulting services firm, Gallagher operates in approximately 130 countries worldwide through its owned operations and a network of correspondent brokers and consultants. This recent acquisition of HICA is seen as a strategic move to expand Gallagher’s presence and offerings in the Australian market, further solidifying their position as a leading provider of insurance and consulting services globally.

Founded over three decades ago, HICA has served a variety of clients in Australia including corporate clients, small and medium-sized businesses, professional groups, and associations. The founder of HICA, Suzanne Still, along with Jethro Still and their team will continue to operate from their current location under the leadership of Graham Campbell who heads Gallagher’s employee benefits and HR consulting operations in Australia.
