Discover the World of Agriculture and Food Science at the AFSE Day
The Agriculture and Food Science Exploration (AFSE) Day is an annual event organized by Mower County 4-H, Riverland Community College, Nexus Cooperative, and Austin Community Education. It is designed for youth in grades 6-9 who have an interest in science, biology, chemistry, engineering, computers, agriculture, mathematics, and food science. This event promises to be a fun and educational experience for all youth interested in exploring the world of agriculture and food science.
The AFSE Day offers engaging tours, hands-on learning labs, and opportunities to develop leadership skills. Participants will have the chance to explore agronomy, animal science, and food science through various activities such as a Corn/Soybean/Drone activity presented by Nexus Cooperative, a tour of Read’s Brown Swiss Dairy farm, a visit to Absolute Energy Ethanol Plant to learn about biofuels, and a Food Science activity by Hormel Foods. Each location will provide hands-on activities for youth to apply their learnings.
