Mental Health Support Group for Men to Convene at Pioneer Technology Center

Breaking the Stigma: A New Men’s Mental Health Group Offers Support and Solidarity

77% of men experience symptoms of mental health conditions such as anxiety, stress or depression. Shockingly, 40% of these men have never talked to anyone about their struggles, citing feelings of embarrassment or the negative stigma surrounding mental health as reasons for their silence. Society often expects men to be strong, stoic and self-sufficient, which makes it hard for them to admit when they are struggling.

To provide a safe space for men to discuss their mental health and other issues, Grand Mental Health is launching a new mental health group specifically for men. The group will focus on topics like fatherhood, marriage and men’s physical and mental health, but will also give members the opportunity to bring up any other topics that are important to them. The group is open to any man in the community who wants to join, not just those receiving services from Grand Mental Health.

Meetings will be held monthly, typically on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. However, due to a scheduling conflict with the Pioneer Tech Center graduation, the next meeting will be on Tuesday, May 14 from 4:00 to 5:00 pm at the Pioneer Technology Center at 2101 North Ash in Ponca City. Men in the group will have the chance to grow, build trust with each other and begin the healing process through open and honest discussions.

For more information about the men’s mental health group contact Jeff Shelton at Grand Mental Health by calling (918)-629-4374. Don’t suffer in silence – join us and be a part of a supportive community of men working towards better mental health and well-being.
