The Bills Sign Two Defensive Tackles

Bills Reinforce Defensive Line with Signings of DeShawn Williams and Austin Johnson

On Thursday, the Buffalo Bills strengthened their defensive line by signing two new defensive tackles. DeShawn Williams and Austin Johnson both inked one-year deals with the team.

Williams, a 31-year-old veteran, had an impressive season in 2023 with the Carolina Panthers, recording 33 total tackles, seven quarterback hits, and a sack. Prior to his time in Carolina, Williams spent three seasons with the Denver Broncos, where he notched 4.5 sacks in 2022 as a defensive end. He originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2015 and saw action in four games during the 2016 season.

Johnson, on the other hand, was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2016. He started 17 games for the Los Angeles Chargers last season, his second year with the team, and tallied 46 total tackles and a forced fumble. Johnson will now join forces with former college and Titans teammate DaQuan Jones on the Bills’ defensive line.

These signings add depth and experience to the Bills’ defensive front as they look to improve upon their strong performance from last season.
