A Divide-and-Conquer Approach to Dividend Season at the Helsinki Stock Exchange
Dividend Season is in Full Swing at the Helsinki Stock Exchange
The Helsinki Stock Exchange is abuzz with both the earnings season and the dividend payment season. This week, a total of 15 companies listed on the exchange will be paying out dividends. Nokian, a network equipment manufacturer, has already released their dividends on Monday, with the payment date set for May 3rd. In order to receive dividends, investors must purchase shares before the dividend release date.
Acting quickly can allow investors to cash in on dividends from companies like Tokmanni, Reka Industrial, Atrium, SSAB, and Metso. Many companies are paying out dividends in multiple installments, so the dividends indicated in the table only apply to the current payouts. Sampo, an insurance group, has the largest dividends, with 206,000 shareholders as of the end of last year.
Reka Industrial stands out as one of the most generous dividend payers this spring, with a dividend of two euros per share for the 2023 financial year. The dividend is made possible by a significant trade last year, where Reka Industrial sold its subsidiary for 53 million euros. However, investors should be cautious as the market value of a company typically decreases on the day of a dividend release.
Investors should carefully evaluate whether chasing after dividends is worth it
