Top 100 Local Businesses List: Yelp Celebrates Georgia’s Standout Small Businesses for Small Business Month

In celebration of Small Business Month, Yelp recently released its annual Top 100 Local Businesses list, showcasing the best small businesses across the country. Three Georgia-based businesses made the cut this year.

Apna Garage in Decatur was ranked No. 1 in its category, with customers frequently commending owner Jatin “Jay” Desai for his friendly, punctual, fast, and honest service. Customers appreciate the attention to detail and care that Desai provides when working on their vehicles.

FitWit in Decatur also ranked highly on the list, owned by Josh Guerrieri. The gym is known for its community atmosphere and individualized care provided by the trainers. Many members credit FitWit with changing their lives for the better and helping them reach their fitness goals.

Empanadas & More in Valdosta also made the list, owned by Alberto Sanchez. Customers rave about the delicious empanadas offered at the restaurant, with some willing to drive long distances just to enjoy a meal there. The family-run business takes pride in their food and service, using only fresh ingredients and traditional recipes to create their dishes.

Yelp selects the top 10 local businesses in 10 different categories each year based on reviews from their users. These categories span a variety of industries, from automotive to fitness to food. To be considered a local business by Yelp, the establishment must be independently owned and operated. Geographic diversity is also important, with only one business per state being allowed to be included in each category.

This year’s list showcases a mix of longstanding neighborhood favorites and newer businesses that have found success by catering to niche markets or the evolving needs of their communities.
