Meet the exciting new hosts of Detroit’s Sports Rap Radio lineup

Sports Rap Radio: A New Voice for Detroit’s Sports Talk Scene.

The Detroit Pistons are currently in search for a new president of basketball operations, as explained by Free Press’ Detroit Pistons beat writer Omari Sankofa II. This search for new leadership within the organization is a crucial step in shaping the future of the team. In addition to this, there are exciting developments in the Detroit sports talk radio scene.

On May 16, Sports Rap Radio, a new radio format co-owned by former Free Press sports columnist Rob Parker, will debut on WXYT-AM (1270). The lineup will feature several local voices as well as one longtime metro Detroit figure.

One of the shows that will be featured on Sports Rap Radio is “The Pitbulls,” co-hosted by Montezz Allen and Lindsey Hunter. Lindsey Hunter, a former Detroit Pistons guard and member of the 2004 NBA championship team, will bring his unique perspective to the show while Montezz Allen, a Detroit native and former NBC affiliate in Georgia, will provide valuable insights into local sports news. Their show will air weekdays from 3-7 p.m.

Another show that will be featured on Sports Rap Radio is “The Odd Couple,” co-hosted by Fox Sports pundit Chris Broussard and Rob Parker himself. This national radio show promises to bring fresh perspectives and engaging discussions to the Detroit sports radio landscape.

Former NBA All-Star player and current player agent B.J. Armstrong, another co-owner of the radio endeavor, will host his own show from 10 a.m.-noon on weekdays. The noon-3 p.m. slot will be covered by Martin Weiss and JR Gamble, two respected sports journalists who bring their expertise to this new lineup promise to deliver fresh perspectives and engaging discussions to listeners
