Running for Mental Health: 2,000 Participants Take Part in 5K Event to Raise Awareness and Funds
On Saturday, the weather was perfect for a run and almost 2,000 participants took advantage of the opportunity to get outside for a good cause. The On Our Sleeves 5K event kicked off at Columbus Crew’s Lower.com Field, where community members came together to raise awareness, break stigmas and raise funds for On Our Sleeves, a foundation dedicated to addressing children’s mental health.
Whitney Raglin Bignall, associate clinical director for Nationwide Children’s Hospital, emphasized the importance of talking about mental health and breaking down stigmas surrounding it. She highlighted the significance of bringing awareness and fundraising efforts to help support this cause. Over 6 million people across the United States have engaged with the movement’s free pediatric mental health education resources since 2018.
The proceeds from the event will support On Our Sleeves in continuing to provide free mental health resources to children and families in need. To learn more about the initiative and how you can get involved, visit their website.
