Taylor Pendrith secures first win at CJ Cup Byron Nelson with two-shot swing on final hole

Rising Star Taylor Pendrith Claims First Career Win at CJ Cup Byron Nelson with a Stunning Triumph

Taylor Pendrith claimed his first career PGA Tour title with a stunning victory at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in McKinney, Texas. The Canadian golfer birdied the 18th hole to finish with a 4-under 67 and a total score of 23-under 261 at TPC Craig Ranch. This was Pendrith’s 74th career start on the tour, and he finally broke through with a win.

Alex Noren of Sweden also finished one stroke back at 21 under with a final round 65, while Aaron Rai and Matt Wallace of England were also notable finishers at 20 under. S.H. Kim and Byeong Hun An of South Korea rounded out the top group at 20 under as well.

Pendrith and Ben Kohles were neck and neck throughout most of the day, with Kohles briefly taking the lead on the 17th hole before Pendrith tied it up on the final hole. However, Kohles’ final-hole meltdown cost him the win as he bogeyed after hitting his second shot into greenside rough and missed a crucial putt that would have forced a playoff.

Jake Knapp, who led after two rounds, finished at 19 under after shooting a final round of 70. Knapp and Wallace were the only players in the top eight with previous PGA Tour wins. Pendrith’s victory marks an important milestone in his career and solidifies him as a rising star on the PGA Tour.
