Rising Mpox Cases in New York City: Health Department Warns of Possible Severe Strain

Since last October, the New York City Health Department has reported a significant increase in cases of the ‘Mpox’ virus. They are also warning about a more severe strain of the illness that has emerged in the Congo and could potentially spread to New York City.

It has been noted that 94 percent of the local patients affected by Mpox are gay and bisexual men. However, the number of cases still remains below the peak seen almost two years ago.
