World Video Game Hall of Fame ceremony to resume in-person

Returning to Reality: Inside the World Video Game Hall of Fame’s In-Person 2024 Ceremony at the Strong National Museum of Play

The World Video Game Hall of Fame is set to return to an in-person format for the first time since 2019 at the Strong National Museum of Play. The ceremony, which takes place on May 9 at 10:30 a.m., will announce the 2024 Hall of Fame class, featuring nominees from a wide range of gaming eras and spanning four decades.

Among the finalists are classic games like Asteroids, which first debuted in 1979, and Guitar Hero, which arrived in 2005. The 1980s launches Elite, Metroid, SimCity, and Ultima are also nominated, along with games from the 1990s such as Myst, Neopets, Resident Evil, Tokimeki Memorial, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, and You Don’t Know Jack.

The Hall of Fame was established by The Strong in 2015 to honor games that have demonstrated longevity, global reach, and influence on video game design and pop culture. Each year
