Vandalism delays opening of Laurium business

Rallying Behind Erin Turner: How the Copper Country Community is Recovering from Vandalism and Supporting Small Business

Erin Turner, the owner of Copper Country Sweets in Laurium, has faced an unexpected setback as her planned grand opening has been delayed indefinitely after her bakery was vandalized earlier in the week. The incident has caused significant damage to the business, but Turner is determined to recover and continue with her dream of bringing a unique sweet treat experience to the community.

In response to this unfortunate event, Fitzgerald’s Restaurant in Eagle River has organized a fundraising campaign to support Turner and her business. The Fitz, owned by Mike LaMotte, is collecting donations through an event on Tock, covering taxes and fees to ensure all the money goes directly to Turner. In addition, the Fitz is contributing $500 to the cause.

The Tock page allows people to purchase tickets to donate to Turner’s business and demonstrate their support for her recovery. Those interested in donating can visit www.exploretock.com and search for Fitzgerald’s Restaurant.

Despite this setback, it is heartwarming to see how the community is coming together to support Turner and her business during these challenging times. The Laurium Police Department could not be reached for comment on the vandalism incident but are working closely with Turner and other businesses in the area to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future.
