On April 24th at 6 p.m., the Museum of the Rockies will host a presentation by Dr. Krishna Rupavatharam, director of Montana State University’s Spectrum Lab, titled “Telecommunications to Teleportation: Making Light Work.” This talk is part of the Science Inquiry Series and will delve into the applications of photons in science and innovation.
Dr. Rupavatharam holds a Ph.D. in optical physics from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India, and has worked at the Lund Institute of Technology in Sweden before joining MSU Spectrum Lab. In addition to his work at MSU, he also serves on the board of directors for the Montana Photonics and Quantum Alliance.
According to a press release from Gallatin Valley Friends of the Sciences on March 21st, Dr. Rupavatharam will be sharing his experiences in photonics, which is the science of light. He will discuss how light can be manipulated for various applications such as remote sensing, holographic imaging, quantum teleportation, and communication.
The Science Inquiry Series talks are free and open to the public, sponsored by Gallatin Valley Friends of the Sciences and Hopa Mountain, and hosted by the Museum of the Rockies. Following Dr. Rupavatharam’s presentation, there will be a Q&A session where attendees can ask questions about photonics and its applications in science and innovation.
