In the early hours of Sunday morning, a fire broke out on Old Trolley Road in Summerville, South Carolina. The fire caused smoke and water damage to multiple businesses in the area.
Summerville Police closed Old Trolley Road at Beverly Drive around 4:30 a.m., while Summerville Fire & Rescue responded to the call. The road was reopened just before 7 a.m., after the fire had been contained.
Chief Fire Marshal Jeremiah Lee stated that the incident was a reported commercial fire on the 1200 block of Old Trolley Road. Despite there being no visible signs of fire from the outside, crews encountered smoke and heat upon entry, indicating that a fire was present. They quickly located and controlled the fire in less than five minutes, but neighboring businesses were affected by smoke and water damage.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
