The NFL schedule could be completely changed by an 18-game season

NFL’s Push for 18-Game Season: Moving to President’s Day Weekend or Starting on Labor Day?

The NFL is pushing for an 18-game season, which would drastically change the league’s calendar. The possibility of moving the Super Bowl to President’s Day Weekend has been proposed as a way to win over fans, but the NFL Players Association may push back for a second bye week. This would mean that the season would have to start on Labor Day Weekend.

Historically, the NFL has avoided Labor Day due to lower ratings, but with its recent growth, it may be open to the idea of starting the season on this weekend. If this were to happen, offseason events like the Scouting Combine, free agency, and the draft would have to be pushed back later in the year. This would increase the league’s presence on the sports calendar even further.

Expanding to 19 or even 20 games is seen as inevitable due to the revenue that comes from more games. The NFL’s desire for more money is driving its push for an expanded season. It seems that more football is on the horizon for the league whether fans and players are ready for it or not.
