A group of Northbrook Junior High School students recently returned home from a state science fair with impressive results. The independent science research students, made up of seventh and eighth graders, brought home a total of 23 awards from the Illinois Junior Academy of Science State Fair in Decatur. Judging criteria for the fair includes evaluating the oral presentation, written work, and scientific method of the experiments based on the Illinois Jr. Academy of Science rubric. Students who receive silver or gold awards have the opportunity to advance to regional and state-level competitions.

This included a variety of awards such as Exceptional Project in Category (EPIC) awards, Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge awards, and awards from the Illinois Soybean Association.
