HGTC Nursing & Health Sciences Institute Receives Generous Donation from McLeod Health

McLeod Health and HGTC Join Forces to Revolutionize Nursing Education in the Grand Strand

Last week, leaders from McLeod Regional Medical Center and Workforce Development came together with Horry Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) for a check presentation. McLeod Health has pledged $375,000 to support the new Nursing & Health Sciences Institute at the Grand Strand Campus of HGTC.

Monica Vehige, CEO of McLeod Loris Seacoast, expressed the organization’s dedication to preparing a skilled healthcare workforce through their partnership with HGTC. She emphasized that by investing in nursing and allied health programs, they are not only ensuring the graduation of high-quality professionals but also contributing to the overall health and vitality of the community.

The objectives of the HGTC Nursing & Health Sciences Institute are ambitious. They aim to create a world-class simulation learning environment, increase nursing enrollment to 600 students by 2030, offer valuable clinical rotation and internship opportunities, and attract top-tier healthcare faculty to HGTC.

On April 15, representatives from McLeod Loris Seacoast and McLeod Workforce Development presented a donation to leaders at Horry Georgetown Technical College. This partnership highlights the commitment of both organizations to advancing healthcare education and workforce development in the region.
