Sol 1250: Contact Science Experiment Bumping

Mars Rover Completes Sol 1249 and Prepares for Analysis of Bright Bedrock Outcrops

The rover has successfully completed Sol 1249 and is now situated in an area with numerous outcrops of bright bedrock. A large outcrop, partially visible on the left side of the image, has been selected as the target for dumping the sand sample and further examination this weekend. Prior to this, the ChemCam and Mastcam will be used to observe the bedrock target known as “Kuiseb.”

Following this, the rover will back up, adjust slightly to the left, and then drive forward to position the large outcrop within arm’s reach for further analysis. Once in position, a series of images will be taken of the workspace to aid in the selection of dump sites and contact science targets for the next day. These activities are all part of the ongoing exploration and investigation of the Martian environment by the rover.

It’s important to note that due to various factors such as communication relays, rover status, and environmental conditions on Mars, dates mentioned in these reports may be subject to change.
