Learning Lifelong Skills at Animal Science Discover Day: A Must-Attend Event for Youth

The annual Animal Science Discover Day is a must-attend event for all youth aged 8-18 years old on May 29th in Curtis, NE on the NCTA Campus. From 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, participants will have the chance to attend seven workshops taught by animal science teachers, learning important life skills. This year’s sessions include meat science, calving simulation, horse IV, Livestock skillathon, quiz bowl, Zoonosis, Animal welfare, Ag Advocacy and more.

To make the sessions engaging and fun for all attendees, participants will be divided into junior and senior tracts to provide more in-depth learning opportunities for older youth. The sessions are designed to be interactive and hands-on experiences that encourage active participation from everyone involved.

Parents and other adults interested in the livestock industry and youth education can also register and participate in the event. To do so online by May 22 for $15/participant or late registrations will be $20/participant. The registration fee includes lunch provided by Frontier County 4-H Council and Ag Valley Co-op. For more information on how to register or any questions you may have about the event please contact Kimberly at kimberly.cook@unl.edu .

The event will be led by Nebraska Extension educators, UNL Animal Science professors and NCTA teachers who will share their knowledge and expertise with participants. This is a great opportunity for all youth to learn more about the livestock industry and prepare 4-H and FFA members for competitions and life skills development. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of science ag literacy
