Jets Retain Head Coach Robert Saleh and General Manager Joe Douglas, Make Changes to Sports Performance and Science Staff for 2024 Season
The New York Jets have announced that they will retain head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas for the 2024 season. However, there have been some changes to the team’s sports performance and sports science staff. According to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, director of high performance Brad DeWeese, assistant director of high performance Robert Sausaman, and director of sports science Matt Sams have all left the organization.
The departures were not performance-based but rather due to the team’s significant injuries along the offensive line in the past two seasons. To address this issue, the team has signed veteran tackles Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses to bolster the line’s performance. Keeping these players healthy and on the field will be crucial for the team’s success in the 2024 season.
On the sports science side of things, Alexander Carnall has been named as the new coordinator. There have been no new additions on the performance side of the staff yet, but it is expected that there will be some changes made in that area as well. With a focus on injury prevention and recovery, it is clear that keeping key players healthy will be a top priority for both Saleh and Douglas moving forward into next year’s season.
