HGTC, McLeod Health Unveil New $375,000 Partnership for Nursing & Health Sciences Institute
On April 15, leaders from Horry Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) gathered with representatives from McLeod Loris Seacoast and McLeod Workforce Development for a check presentation. The occasion marked the pledging of $375,000 by McLeod Health to support the new Nursing & Health Sciences Institute at the Grand Strand Campus of HGTC.
The partnership between HGTC and McLeod Health underscores the commitment to developing a well-prepared healthcare workforce. Monica Vehige, CEO of McLeod Loris Seacoast, emphasized the importance of investing in nursing and allied health programs at HGTC to ensure high-quality graduates and contribute to the overall health of the community.
The goals of the HGTC Nursing & Health Sciences Institute are ambitious, with plans to introduce a world-class simulation learning environment, increase nursing enrollment to 600 students by 2030, provide valuable clinical rotation and internship opportunities, and attract top-tier healthcare faculty to HGTC. This collaboration between two prominent institutions is a significant step towards advancing healthcare education and improving community well-being.
