Nurses from various RWJBarnabas Health sites gathered at the Eisenhower facility in Livingston, NJ for a Peri-Anesthesia Conference organized by The Institute for Nursing Excellence. The event aimed to provide 44 nurse attendees with lectures, simulations, and certification review for the CAPA and CPAN examinations.
The conference was led by Swapnil Shah, DNP, Jessica Stanford, MSN RN-BC, and Mary Koch, MSN, RN, NPD-BC, CNOR. Topics covered included Phase I and II Management, Review of Anesthesia Medications for Adult and Pediatric populations, Fluid and Blood management, and a session on Care of the Caregiver by Tom Moore from the RWJBarnabas Health Employee Assistance Program.
The morning sessions included hands-on sessions on mini-code, ventilator management, A-Lines, and Airway management led by system interprofessional colleagues. The conference also included a mini certification review with tips, tools, and techniques.
