Exploring India’s Economy in the Next Quarter Century: Insights and Strategies from Academic Experts
On Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 2 PM to 6:30 PM, the UC San Diego School of Global Policy and Strategy’s 21st Century India Center is hosting an event titled “India’s Economy in the Next Quarter Century: Opportunities and Challenges”. The event will take place in the Malamud Conference Room at the Institute of the Americas and is open to individuals aged 18 and above. Admission is free for all attendees.
In recent years, India has undergone significant transformations, becoming the world’s most populous country and one of the fastest-growing economies globally. However, despite these achievements, India faces fundamental challenges in its development journey. This event aims to bring together leading economists to discuss current research insights and explore ways in which academic work can contribute to addressing India’s most pressing economic issues in the next 25 years.
The keynote speech will be delivered by Michael Kremer, a University Professor at the University of Chicago and co-recipient of the 2019 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences. Additionally, Karthik Muralidharan from UC San Diego, author of the book “Accelerating India’s Development”, will give a special lecture.
The agenda for this public event includes panel discussions, a keynote and special lecture, and a reception for attendees.
