Eugene-Area High School Athletes Shine in Spring Sports Season Finale

As the high school spring sports season comes to a close, Eugene-area athletes are still excelling in their respective sports. This week’s Register-Guard Athlete of the Week nominees include athletes from various schools and sports.

Reagan Kumle, a senior softball player from Springfield, had an outstanding game with a double, three RBIs, and a run scored in a 10-3 victory over Ashland. Meanwhile, McKenzie Larsen, a junior tennis player from Churchill, secured two wins at No. 1 singles, defeating opponents from North Eugene and Willamette. Trison Hedges, a senior golfer from Thurston, finished second at the boys 5A Midwestern League District Championships with a two-day score of 162. Aiden Hibler, a freshman baseball player from North Eugene, stood out with four hits, three RBIs, and two runs scored in a series win over Crater.

In golf tournaments this week, Anthony Angelastro placed third at the Shadow Hills Marshfield Invitational with a score of 81 and Francesca Tomp won the girls 5A Midwestern League District Championships with a score of 152. Camille Gamble hit
