Empowering the Next Generation of Sports Officials: The Successful Partnership Between CHSAA and RefReps
The Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) has recently partnered with an officiating education company, RefReps, to provide a comprehensive Sports Officiating Education curriculum for over a dozen sports. This partnership allows schools to offer “Intro to Sports Officiating” as an elective course during the school day, providing students with valuable skills and knowledge that will benefit them both personally and in their future careers.
Currently, over 500 high schools and universities in 43 states are actively teaching Intro to Sports Officiating classes using RefReps’ engaging learning experience. This success is attributed to the curriculum’s ability to capture students’ attention and make officiating fun and exciting. With the help of this curriculum and an enthusiastic instructor, schools can easily offer this course to students, benefiting both the students, CHSAA member schools, and the sports community.
The upcoming webinars on Monday, May 6 or Thursday, May 23 will showcase the success achieved with partner schools so far and provide guidance on how to integrate this course as a stand-alone Sports Officiating class or incorporate it into existing courses like Advanced Physical Education or Team Sports. RefReps will also share successful funding strategies that have been implemented across the country.
This partnership between CHSAA and RefReps is expected to have a significant impact on high school sports by providing students with the necessary skills and knowledge to become successful officials while also promoting a positive image of sportsmanship within the community.
