Empowering Disabled Athletes: NSCD Opens Adaptive Program Center in Jefferson County

The National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) recently celebrated the opening of its new NSCD Adaptive Program Center at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. The event featured a Field Day where over 100 Aurora Public School students, along with representatives from The Hartford, Move United, Jefferson County Officials, and Denver Broncos alumni, attended.

During the Field Day, students had the opportunity to participate in various activities such as going through an obstacle course, trying out archery at the range, and testing adaptive cycles for the launch of the new adaptive program. The NSCD received a $50,000 grant from The Hartford, which was used to acquire new adaptive cycles for the cycling program.

Julie Taulman, the president and CEO of the NSCD, mentioned that the new program center is a convenient location for people to experience outdoor activities in a safe environment. The center offers 100 acres of land with access to miles of trails and will provide a range of programs and lessons during the spring, summer, and fall seasons. The goal is to encourage individuals to stay active throughout the year and engage in a variety of sports and activities.
