Economy and Inflation: More Americans Trust Trump than Biden in Upcoming Presidential Election

A recent poll by ABC News/Ipsos found that more Americans trust former President Trump over current President Biden when it comes to the economy and inflation. The poll revealed that these two issues are among the top concerns for Americans heading into the upcoming presidential election.

In terms of the economy, 88% of respondents said it was a critical factor in deciding who to vote for, while 85% cited inflation as a major concern. When it comes to handling the economy, 46% of Americans trusted Trump, while only 32% trusted Biden. Similarly, 44% of respondents trusted Trump to handle inflation, compared to 30% who trusted Biden. However, 21% said they did not trust either candidate on this issue.

The poll also showed that more Americans feel financially worse off since Biden took office. In fact, 43% reported a decline in their financial situation, while 40% said they were about the same and only 16% felt they were better off. Additionally, in a hypothetical matchup between Biden and Trump, the race remains close among all adults surveyed. While Trump had 46% support compared to Biden’s 44%, when looking at registered voters specifically, Biden led with 46% support compared to Trump’s 45%. And among likely voters, Biden extended his lead with an impressive 49% support versus Trump’s 45%.
