Detroit Public Health Week Offers Free Health Screenings to Residents
In Detroit, during Public Health Week, residents will have the chance to receive free health screenings. The event is being hosted by the Detroit Health Department and will take place from April 1 to April 6. There are no requirements for an appointment, ID or health insurance to participate in the free health screenings.
The Detroit Health Department has teamed up with police precincts, recreation centers and other community partners to host this event. This year’s theme is “Centering and Celebrating Culture in Health,” highlighting the significance of cultural influences on health.
People can take advantage of various free health screenings and engage in activities promoting a healthy lifestyle. The screenings and activities include checks for blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, kidney function, HIV and syphilis testing, fitness classes, CPR training, Narcan training and kit distribution, mental health screenings, lead screenings and a men’s panel discussion called “Cuts and Conversations.”
The events will be held at different locations throughout Detroit including the Detroit Health Department, police precincts and recreation centers on specific dates and times listed on the flyer for Detroit Public Health Week 2024. More information about the week of events can be found on the city of Detroit’s official website at detroitmi.gov/health.
