Watch: Deloitte’s Annual Technology in Supply Chains Report

Deloitte Survey Highlights Human-Centric Approach to Supply Chain Technology: Focus on Change Management and Data Governance.

In a recent industry survey, conducted by Deloitte Consulting LLP in partnership with MHI, Wanda Johnson, a supply chain technology fellow at Deloitte, highlighted the importance of keeping humans at the center of technology advancements in supply chain operations. The report, based on input from 1,500 executives, emphasizes the need for a “human-centric, technology-driven” approach that considers change management and how people respond to new technology.

According to Johnson, this year’s survey marks the 10th anniversary and has helped identify key trends in the past decade. Robotics, automation, and artificial intelligence were identified as consistent themes in the evolution of supply chain technology. Generative AI was particularly highlighted due to its potential to enhance human capabilities and improve decision-making processes by providing better data for predicting outcomes.

Data governance was another area of focus in the report. The importance of obtaining clean data was emphasized to ensure accurate results. Despite Generative AI’s ability to process large amounts of data and assist in decision-making, Johnson notes that human planners must remain vigilant as there is a risk of inaccurate results if they do not carefully analyze the data before making decisions based on technology-driven insights.
