Steward Health Care hospital workers faced unpaid wages, according to reports.

Delayed Pay for Steward Health Care Employees: What You Need to Know

Amid the financial turmoil surrounding Steward Health Care, which recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and owns hospitals in Brockton, Taunton, and Fall River, several employees have reported not receiving their paychecks. According to WCVB reports, the delay in payment was due to a processing error within the Bank of America system.

In an effort to reassure employees, Steward Health Care President Mark Rich issued a message addressing the issue. He confirmed that payroll and benefits for all team members were funded and would be deposited into their accounts within the next 24 hours.

A spokesperson for the Executive Office of Health and Human Services has also confirmed that state officials are aware of the delay and have assured employees that they will receive their checks on Thursday or Friday. Steward Health Care currently employs over 30,000 individuals at more than 30 hospitals across the United States, including eight in Massachusetts.

The bankruptcy filing of Steward Health Care has raised concerns about its future amid financial struggles. However, Rich’s message sought to provide reassurance to employees during this challenging time. State officials are working to ensure that employees receive their pay in a timely manner as Steward continues through its bankruptcy proceedings.
