Deer Park High School Celebrates Dedication to Math and Science with Honor Societies Induction Ceremony

The Math and Science Honor Societies at Deer Park High School held their annual induction ceremony on March 14th, welcoming a total of 72 new members. With 40 students inducted into the Math Honor Society and 32 students inducted into the Science Honor Society, the event was a celebration of academic excellence and dedication to studying and developing a passion for math and science.

The ceremony began with warm welcomes from Science Honor Society adviser Edward Libretto and Math Honor Society adviser Cassidy Velle, followed by a keynote speech delivered by Kaleigh Pizzirusso. Muhsin Maqsood, the Math Honor Society President, expressed his excitement for the new members, emphasizing the importance of years of dedication to studying and developing a passion for math and science.

Muhsin encouraged the new members to embrace a society where exploration and curiosity about the natural world, as well as how numbers play a role in it, is encouraged. He emphasized the importance of discussions with peers who share the same passion for research, allowing them to ask questions and formulate theories together.

Calvin Nguyen, President of the Science National Honor Society also praised the students for their hard work and dedication to academic excellence in their respective sciences. He expressed optimism for the future, acknowledging these students as the next generation of scientific leaders not only in Deer Park but in the global community as well.
