Curiosity Rover’s Next Mission Phase Promises Environmental Investigations and Dust Devil Spotting

Curiosity rover’s next phase mission plan includes several environmental investigations. One of the main activities will be atmospheric investigations, which will involve routine REMS activities and DAN examining water in the subsurface through passive measurements. Additionally, the rover will study dust levels on its top surface and monitor the current opacity of the atmosphere at the crater rim. During this time, Curiosity will also keep a watchful eye out for dust devils.

Over the course of its mission, Curiosity has captured stunning images of dust devils, with one particularly memorable one being taken on sol 2847 more than 1300 sols ago. For those interested in seeing dust devils in motion, there is a video available at . It’s hard to believe how quickly time has passed since the mission began, especially when there is so much excitement and discovery taking place.
