Chautauqua Christian Academy’s Defenders Stage a Comeback for Third Place in National Christian School Basketball Tournament
The Defenders from Chautauqua Christian Academy showcased their skills and determination throughout the National Christian School basketball tournament, ultimately finishing third in Division 5 after a strong performance. Their only loss came in the quarterfinals against the eventual champions from Maryland. In the consolation game, the Defenders staged an impressive comeback, overcoming a five-point deficit with a minute remaining in regulation to force overtime.
Led by standout players like Marcus Ryan and Sawyer Lynn, the team maintained their momentum in the extra period and secured the win with Lynn’s clutch 3-pointer. Lynn ended the game with 19 points, including three 3-pointers, while Ryan excelled with 34 points on only 22 shots, including five 3-pointers. Hunter Edwards contributed with 10 rebounds and Kayden Peterson showcased outstanding defense.
Both Ryan and Lynn were recognized for their performances by being named to the All-Tournament team. The Defenders’ impressive comeback in the consolation game was a testament to their skills and determination throughout the competition.
