New organization proposes bringing USL team to Buffalo

Bringing Professional Soccer to Buffalo: Peter Marlette Jr.’s Quest to Join the USL Championship League

Peter Marlette Jr., a Western New York native and founder of Buffalo Pro Soccer, is on a mission to bring a United Soccer League Championship team to Buffalo by 2026. With an exclusive partnership with USL, Marlette aims to make this dream a reality in the city he loves.

As the president of the organization, Marlette has assembled a team of club owners, elected officials, business partners, community leaders, and more to help him achieve his goal. He believes that Buffalo, known for its passion for sports, deserves its own professional soccer club to join the growing soccer movement in the United States.

Marlette is committed to building a winning team that represents the hard work, resilience, innovation, and pride of the community. He looks forward to collaborating with everyone who believes in Buffalo to write a new chapter in the city’s vibrant civic and sports history.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown commended Peter Marlette and Buffalo Pro Soccer for their plans to bring professional soccer to the city. As a great sports city with an already strong reputation for football and basketball teams like the Bills and Sabres respectively, adding professional soccer would only add another feather to its cap.

The USL Championship currently features 24 men’s professional teams playing a 34-game regular season from March to October. As the only league sanctioned by U.S. Soccer’s Division II, USL Championship teams have a strong fan base, with an average of nearly 6,000 fans per game and some teams drawing more than 10,000 spectators regularly. Buffalo Pro Soccer aims to become a part of this thriving soccer league and bring professional soccer to Buffalo in the near future.
